Soccer Academy Open Tryout

brm-ballI’m Coach Jeff, the coach for the Burbank Red Machine Training Academy’s U12 (born late-2004 or later) and U11 (born 2005 or 2006) club teams. We are a newly-developed offshoot of Burbank Red Machine started by Fernando Vacas, the original founder of that club.

The difference in the Training Academy’s model is that we’re not only focused on developing excellent, well-rounded players on the field, we are committed to developing excellent, well-rounded, individuals who are successful off the field, as well. My coaching curriculum involves finding what players like doing outside of soccer and helping them develop an action plan, timeline and contacts to achieving those objectives.

We do NOT foster a ‘win-at-costs’ perspective. At this age, it has a tendency to hinder players’ overall growth. They get stuck in roles prematurely, their skill and creativity is hampered, as they’re steered away from stressful scenarios, and they don’t learn to handle the adversity of losing and learning from mistakes.

We still achieve long-term success on the field, however, as this complete approach helps to develop great players of good character who can play ANY position and highly-competitive teams. My last two seasons of U10 AYSO teams both made it to the Valley Playoffs, and one made it to the semifinals (top 4 teams) of Central CA. If players start early enough and apply themselves fully, there are very few limitations to what they can achieve and what we can achieve as a team.

I have over 20 years of coaching experience, and I have coached levels varying from U6 in AYSO (where I coordinated the U8 division for 2 seasons) to assisting with a Women’s A-League team. I hold an “E” License and attended FC Barcelona’s coach clinic this past summer. My theater degree training provided me with the communication and movement background to effectively teach good technique to kids.

I look forward to meeting you and your player! Our practices are Tues and Thurs nights from 6:00 to 7:30pm. Feel free to let us know if you’re coming and bring shin guards, cleats AND flat-soled shoes (we practice on multiple surfaces with advanced techniques and equipment in order to cross-train and hyper-train players to adapt and excel in every situation.)

We are looking for dedicated players that wants to continue to pursue their soccer education. Just locate the player’s birth year and contact the Coaching Director to find out your tryout date and time.
